Pipefitter Sues ADM For Negligence

LINCOLN, NEB. (CN) - Boiling cornstarch erupted through a manhole and scalded a pipefitter at an Archer-Daniels-Midland plant, causing his skin to peel away from most of his body, the man says in Federal Court. Jeffrey Culp says he's incurred $872,000 in medical bills and untold pain and suffering.

Culp also sued his employer, Jacobs Fields Services, which had a contract with ADM. The boiling cornstarch was 290 degrees when it covered him, Culp says. He is represented by Jerrold Fennell of Omaha.
