(CN) - Pinnacle Oilfield Service of Broussard, La. will pay more than $146,000 to settle claims it generated far more hazardous waste per month than it reported to regulators, the Environmental Protect Agency said.
According to the EPA, the company violated the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act for the past five years by reporting it was producing less than 100 kilograms of hazardous waste per month when in fact it was generating over 1,000 kilograms of hazardous waste per month.
Pinnacle has agreed to pay a $146,585 civil penalty and to take steps to better protect those living near its facility from the health and environmental risks associated with hazardous waste.
