Photographer Claims Bill Graham Archives Sells Rock & Jazz Pics Without Permission

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - Jim Marshall claims the Bill Graham Archives dba Wolfgang's Vault is selling his photos of famous rock and jazz musicians on the Internet after its license expired. Marshall claims the Vault sold his photo of Thelonious Monk for $2,000 after the license ended, and is still offering his photos of Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Janis Joplin, Bill Evans and others.

Marshall says the defendants kept offering the prints for sale even after receiving a cease and desist letter and a demand that they return the photos.

He wants his photos returned, defendants' profits from them and an injunction. He is represented in Federal Court by Andrew Stroud.
