Philips Protects Data-Compression Patents

MANHATTAN (CN) - Koninklijke Philips Electronics accuses major music publishers and electronics firms of violating its digital compression patents used in compact discs. Defendants in Philips' three federal lawsuits include Universal Music Group, Hal Leonard Corp., and Intuit.

Philips is represented by Edward Johnson with Mayer Brown in all three cases.

Here are the defendants in one case: The Ads Group fka Advanced Duplication Services LLC, American Media International Ltd., Carbonite Inc., The Comvest Group, Eva-Tone Inc., Hal Leonard Corp., Hudson Valley Capital Partners Inc., Inoveris LLC, Intuit Inc., Malaco Entertainment LLC, Metatec International Inc., MTI Acquisition LLC, MTI Acquisition Corp., Music City Optical Media Inc., Zomax Inc., Michael Hardwick, Aurn Khurana, Jean Lagotte, Edgar Moll, John Moll, and David Silvon.

Here are the defendants in the second case: Entertainment Distribution Co. LLC, Entertainment Distribution Co., Universal Music Group, UMG Manufacturing & Logistics Inc., James Caparro, and Jordan Copland.

Here are the defendants in the third case: Optical Experts Manufacturing Inc., Brilliance Audio Inc., Raymond Zerrusen, and Clifford Boyd.
