DAYTON, Ohio (CN) - A former Wal-Mart pharmacist says he was fired for refusing to dispense certain kinds of birth control that violated his religious beliefs. Brent Beams claims he objects to birth control with "significant post-fertilization mechanism of action," including Plan B, Depo-Provera and progestin-only birth control.
Beams says Wal-Mart refused to accommodate his religious beliefs, which include the notion that life begins at conception.
He demands compensatory and punitive damages, and is represented in Federal Court by Robert Jason Howard.
