WASHINGTON (CN) - The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service plans to list the yellow-eyed penguin, white-flippered penguin, Fiordland crested penguin, Humboldt penguin, and erect-crested penguin as threatened species under the Endangered Species Act, and the African penguin as endangered.
Each designation would extend the act's protection to that species. The USFWS seeks data and comments from the public on the proposed rule, including current or planned activities in the areas occupied by the species.
