WASHINGTON – A federal court ruled against a member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma who sought the return of the remains and personal belongings of White Fox, a revered performer who died on a European tour in 1874. Foreign countries have immunity under the expropriation exception unless the property is in the U.S., but the property in this case is in Sweden.

The plaintiff is the eldest living descendant of White Fox, who was also a member of the Pawnee Nation.
