‘Pawn Stars’ Ex-Agent Sues History Channel

(CN) - A talent agency that represented stars of The History Channel's "Pawn Stars" claims in court that it lost millions of dollars when another agency interfered with its contract.

Plaintiff Venture IAB sued A&E Television Networks, The History Channel and three executives in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Venture claims its agent Wayne Jeffries represented the Harrison family, subjects of the reality show "Pawn Stars," from June 2007 until January 2012.

"Pawn Stars" follows the day-to-day operations of the family-owned Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas. It is shown on The History Channel, which is owned by A&E.

Venture claims that in January 2010 the defendants persuaded the stars of the show to terminate their agreements with Venture.

It claims the network knew about Venture's contract, and "intended to disrupt that relationship" so a friend of the network executives could represent them instead.

"As a result of the intentional interference with the agency agreements, plaintiff has lost millions of dollars of income," the complaint states.

Also named as defendants are talent agent Michael Camacho, History Channel President Nancy Dubuc, and its Vice President of Development and Programming Mary Donahue.
