Pauly Shore Isn’t Laughing Now

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Comedian Pauly Shore claims his brother Peter forced their ailing mother to remove him from the family business's board of directors instead of producing documents that could have revealed the brother's financial "abuse." The Shores run The Comedy Store in Los Angeles.

Pauly claims Parkinson's disease has made their mother, Mitzi Shore, "susceptible to unscrupulous behavior and undue influence." Pauly and Peter's father, Sammy Shore, also a comedian, opened the club with fellow comedian Randy DeLuca in 1972.

Mitzi Shore is the sole shareholder of the club, according to the Superior Court complaint.

Pauly Shore says that in November he asked his brother, a fellow Comedy Store director, for the company's tax records, cash flow reports, the monthly check register, and the general register for 2008 and 2009.

He says Peter refused, and retained the Holland & Knight law firm to contest the request. Then Peter talked their mother into removing Pauly as a director, according to the compliant.

Pauly claims those actions support his suspicion that Peter is skimming money from the family business. He says a letter from Mrs. Shore's estate lawyers to Peter in July raised his concerns.

Pauly Shore is represented by Neil Erickson with Jeffer, Mangels, Butler. He wants the documents he requested and reinstatement to the board of directors.
