Grant Heilman, owner of a stock photo agency with more than 100 member photographers, filed a class action accusing Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Co. of using his clients' images in more texts and reference books than permitted by contracts, in Denver Federal Court.

Cloakworks claims Cloakware's "Transcoder" violates patent on a system to prevent pirating of music, in San Jose Federal Court.

Resonance Technology claims Koninklijke Philips Electronics, Intermagnetics General Corp., MRI Devices Corp., and Invivo Corp. violate its patents on MRI displays, in Los Angeles Federal Court.

Bumpy Books claims MacMillan and other publisher violate its copyrighted "Bumpy Books Method and Device for Multi-Sensory Learning" in elementary textbooks. Also sued in Brooklyn Federal Court are St. Martin's Press, Verglagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrink, MacMillan Group, Campbell Books, and Emily Bolam.
