Pastor Accused of ‘Laying on Hands’ With Too Much Vigor

OAKLAND, Calif. (CN) - Pastor Randy G. Keyes of the United Pentecostal Church of Modesto allegedly knocked a guest unconscious when he "performed the practice of 'laying hands' on her by striking (her) forehead with the palm of his open hand and forcefully pushing (her) backward," Rev. Dr. Cheryl Elliott claims in Alameda County Court. She allegedly fell and slammed the back of her head on the floor so hard that it bounced.

She claims Keyes failed to help her and refused to even acknowledge the incident.

The plaintiff seeks reimbursement for lost wages and medical costs, plus punitive damages. She is represented by Vernon Goins II with Taylor, Goins & Stallworth.
