Parking Lot Pitfall|Alleged by Kaiser Patient

LOS ANGELES (CN) - The gate arm in Kaiser's parking lot came down on a man's head, knocking him unconscious, his conservator claims in court.

As conservator of Marco Tadeo, Maria Tadeo sued Kaiser Foundation Health Plan in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The complaint alleges that the parking lot at Kaiser's Downey, Calif., facility had a parking gate arm that was "faulty, defective, dangerous and unsafe in that the only way that pedestrians could exit the lot was to walk directly underneath the gate arm as it opened and closed to allow cars to exit and enter the lot."

Marco Tadeo, a Kaiser patient, "was forced in that manner to walk under the gate arm, when it suddenly, defectively and without forewarning came crashing down upon Marco Tadeo and struck his head, causing him to lose consciousness, and resulting in serious injury to his person," the complaint states.

The Tadeos seek damages for negligence and failure to warn. They are represented by Jina Nam in Cerritos.
