Parking Headaches at Busy Texas Courthouse

DALLAS (CN) - Structural damage has forced the closure of a busy parking garage at a Dallas County courthouse, causing headaches for jurors and court employees.

Garage D serves employees and jurors at the Frank Crowley Courts Building west of downtown.

Dallas County spokeswoman Maria Arita told the Dallas Morning News the garage closed on Tuesday and is "expected to be closed the entire next week."

Engineers are working on correcting "structural problems with the shoring," and the county has no plans to tear down and rebuild the garage, she said.

Concerns of structural damage led to an earlier closure of the same garage in April 2011.

An adjacent parking garage and several private parking lots are available for parking in the area, but the closure put all facilities at capacity on Friday afternoon.

The Crowley courts building closed for several days in March when a burst pipe flooded the first floor.

The closure of the garage does not affect the George Allen Civil Courts Building, which is located elsewhere in downtown
