Parents Sue School For Attorney’s Fees

NASHVILLE (CN) - Parents of an 11th-grader who was suspended for drinking vodka at school say it's not enough that the school district reduced their son's suspension from a year to 10 days, let him back on the wrestling team and offered to pay for transportation to an alternative school, they want their attorney's fees too.

The parents say their son has attention deficit activity disorder, depression and anxiety disorder. He filled a water bottle with vodka and brought it to Ravenswood High School and drank, and it interacted with his medication and he was hospitalized. The parents say the Williamson County Board of Education screwed up procedurally, violating their son's rights. They want the legal fees they incurred.

They are represented in Federal Court by Marcella Derryberry.
