LOS ANGELES (CN) - The parents of a stuntman who died in an explosion while working on "The Expendables 2" have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against producer Millenium Films and the film's stunt coordinator.
Zong Yu Liu and Yan Mei Bai say their 26-year-old son, Kun Lui, died on Oct. 27, 2011 while performing a stunt on a rubber boat near the Ognyanovo dam in Elin Pelin, Bulgaria.
Born in Beijing, Kun Liu was not fluent in English, and could not speak or read English, according to the lawsuit in Superior Court.
The stuntman's parents say "explosives and other similar ultra-hazardous activities in the rubber boat" caused the blast that killed their son.
"The Expendables 2," directed by Simon West and starring Sylvester Stallone, is set to release Aug. 17.
Kun Liu's parents are suing the producers and stunt coordinator Chad Stahelski for wrongful death and strict liability. They seek general damages and reimbursement for funeral and burial expenses.
