Parasailer Allegedly Ignored Girl’s Plea Before She Died

FORT LAUDERDALE (CN) - A parasailing operator ignored two frightened girls' cries to bring them down in high winds, but let the parasail detach from its lines and throw the girls into a building and a tree, killing one and seriously injuring her other, the girls' mother claims in Broward County Court.

Amber May White, 15, died on Aug. 17 and Crystal White was injured. The mom demands damages from Wyndham Vacation Resorts, Waterfront License Corp. dba Island Waves Parasailing, Pompano Beach Watersports, The Beach Inc., and Scott Kipp, who allegedly "ignored the pleas of Amber May White and Crystal White to bring them down, and specifically refused to do so." The mom says the defendants also "failed to observe warning flags for high winds and failed to heed weather advisories." The mom is represented by John Leighton of Miami. See complaint.
