Orlando to Use Web to Release Shooting Docs

(CN) – The City of Orlando on Tuesday created a dedicated webpage to disseminate records related to the June 12 Pulse nightclub shooting.
The website, located here, currently includes a narrative of the rampage in which 49 people died and 53 were wounded, email and text messages sent and received by Mayor Buddy Dyer and police chief John Mina, and fire, planning and permitting, and code enforcement records for the night club itself.
In a written statement the city said it has received hundreds of Public Records Act requests in the wake of the shooting and that it has been trying to expedite the distribution of material sought.
It noted that the process has been slowed by the need to ensure the release of records complies with the many Florida law exemptions designed to protect the privacy of the victims and the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
As additional records related to the Pulse incident and investigation are released, they will be posted on the website, the city said.
