PORTLAND, ORE. (CN) – More than 200 cougars will be killed – 41 percent of the Oregon population – if Oregon Wildlife Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture are allowed to proceed with their plan, according to a suit filed in Federal Court by environmental groups and ranchers who oppose the killing. Lead plaintiff Goat Ranchers of Oregon says the Oregon Cougar Management Plan was drawn up and approved without a proper environmental impact statement. See complaint.
