Orders for Durable |Goods Surged in July
(CN) – Orders placed with U.S. manufacturers surged in July, lifted in part by a marked increase in orders for commercial aircraft.
New orders for manufactured durable goods in July increased $9.7 billion or 4.4 percent to $228.9 billion, the Commerce Department reported Thursday.
Orders for durable goods jumped 4.4 percent in July, rebounding from a 4.2 percent decline in June.
Orders for commercial aircract rose 1.6 percent in July, up from a 0.5 percent rise in June. It was the best showing in this category in six months.
