MANHATTAN (CN) - A man who dropped off his cell phone for repair because it would not connect to the Internet was arrested after the repairman found child pornography on the phone's memory card, federal prosecutors said.

When Robert Scharff called to ask if his phone was ready, workers at the Sprint PCS store told him it had been "sent out" for repair, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. In reality, the technicians had called law enforcement, who arrested Scharff at his apartment two days later, where they allegedly found more kiddie porn.

Scharff, 45, of Brooklyn, is charged with three counts of child pornography, the U.S. Attorney said.
