One Way To Beat A Speeding Ticket

CLEVELAND (CN) - Don Wertz says the Village of West Millgrove and its mayor conspired to violate his civil rights by prosecuting him for speeding. Wertz's federal lawsuit says West Millgrove's population is 78, short of the 100 required under Ohio law for a Mayor's Court.

Wertz demands $75,000 on each of seven charges, including malicious prosecution. He says Mayor Earl Weaver acknowledged in November 2007 that the mayor's court was illegal, because the village is so small.

Wertz was ticketed on Jan. 5 this year.

His lawsuit does not state how fast he was going.

Wertz is represented by Charles Hall Jr., of Tiffin.
