One-Day Phone Number|Transfers Available Soon

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Federal Communications Commission has adopted standardized data fields to enable phone service providers to transfer a customer's telephone number to another provider within one business day.

All large phone service providers must reduce the time it takes to transfer a phone number from four days to one, by Aug. 2, according to a 2009 FCC order. Small providers must comply by Feb. 2.
