LAS VEGAS (CN) - O.J. Simpson's four friends who took plea deals in exchange for testimony against him will be sentenced today for their roles in last year's hotel room heist. A restitution hearing is also set to determine what to do with the stolen items.
Charles Cashmore, Charles Ehrlich, Michael McClinton and Walter Alexander will face Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass to learn how valuable their testimony was, and whether they will get probation or prison time.
Simpson, 61, was sentenced on Friday to at least 9 years in prison, with a maximum of 33 years.
Co-defendant, Clarence "C.J." Stewart, got at least 7½ years, with a maximum of 27 years.
Simpson and Stewart were convicted on Oct. 3 of robbing Alfred Beardsley and Bruce Fromong at gunpoint in a room at the Palace Station Hotel in September 2007.
Simpson's attorneys and prosecutors said Friday that both men could have received less time if they had accepted plea deals before the conviction. They refused to give specifics.
After the sentencing on Friday, Simpson's attorney Yale Galanter said he planned to file an appeal on Monday, but he must wait until after today's restitution hearing.
