The U.S. Interior Department said Tuesday it had canceled all remaining oil and gas leases in Montana’s Badger-Two Medicine area, an area considered sacred by the Blackfeet Nation.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Interior Department said Tuesday it had canceled all remaining oil and gas leases in Montana’s Badger-Two Medicine area, an area considered sacred by the Blackfeet Nation.

The move comes two months after the department rescinded federal leases held by Devon Energy and issued the company a $200,000 refund for all rents and bonus bids paid.
