Ohio bailout bribery

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A federal court in Ohio certified a class that is suing the FirstEnergy utility and its corporate officers for their part in the bribery scheme that led to the passage of Ohio House Bill 6 and, eventually, the trial and convictions of ex-Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder and former Ohio Republican leader Matt Borges. The bill, passed after Householder accepted a $60 million bribe, bailed out FirstEnergy for $1.3 billion.
