Official in Charge of Closing Gitmo Quits

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Pentagon official in charge of closing the Guantanamo prison has quit after only 7 months. Phillip Carter, a deputy assistant secretary of defense, and a lawyer, resigned for personal reasons, the Pentagon said, without clarifying. President Obama has acknowledged he will not meet his self-imposed deadline of closing the prison by January 2010.
