CLAYTON, Mo. (CN) - Office Depot will pay Missouri $440,000 to settle allegations it violated the state's Merchandising Practices Act. Attorney General Chris Koster said a yearlong investigation showed Office Depot overcharged the state and nonprofit customers.
Some of the violations included misrepresenting cost savings.
Office Depot will pay $320,000 in restitution and $120,000 to reimburse the state for its investigation, according to the consent judgment in St. Louis County Court.
A permanent injunction was issued, barring Office Depot from violating the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act; a $100,000 penalty was suspended pending Office Depot's compliance.
