Off-Duty Officer Sues Trump Hotel Security

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CN) - An off-duty police officer claims security officers at the Trump Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City handcuffed him and put him in a steel holding cell after he tried to break up a fight at the Wave nightclub. Christopher Powell claims in Superior Court that he tried to stop a club patron from punching another man, when five security officers "grabbed (him) from behind by way of chokehold," pulled him away from the fight and threw him to the ground.

When he identified himself as a police officer, security officers allegedly said they "didn't give a fuck" and hauled him off to the casino holding cell.

Powell sued the hotel and security officers for assault and battery. He is represented by Jacobs & Barbone.
