ST. LOUIS (CN) - City officials blamed Occupy St. Louis protesters for a break-in at the old Municipal Court building. Protesters unfurled two banners down the side of the building last Thursday, one stating "Occupy" and the other "Everything."
Police said the break-in was reported Friday, the day after the Occupy protest, which resulted in the arrest of 14 protesters.
Police told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that someone apparently cut a chain from a door and entered the building.
Police are investigating whether anything was stolen.
Kara Bowlin, a spokeswoman for Mayor Francis Slay, told the Post-Dispatch the city believes the protesters are responsible for the break-in.
"They're not going to win public opinion by vandalizing property and breaking the law," Bowlin said.
