SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - President Obama has nominated University of California, Berkeley's Associate Dean and law Professor Goodwin Liu to serve as a judge on the 9th Circuit.
Liu has been with Berkeley's law school since 2003. Prior, he was an appellate litigator at O'Melveny & Myers in Washington, D.C.
He also served as a special assistant to the deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, and as a senior program officer for the Corporation for National Service, AmeriCorps.
Liu, a Rhodes Scholar, got his bachelor's degree from Stanford, a master's from Oxford, and his J.D. from Yale.
