WASHINGTON (CN) - President Obama is expected to meet with a group of senators from both parties next week to discuss filling an upcoming vacancy on the Supreme Court.
The senators will discuss the confirmation hearings that will take place over the summer so that the nominee chosen to replace outgoing Justice John Paul Stevens can fill the seat by fall, White House officials said.
Obama has yet to name a nominee.
Expected to attend the April 21 meeting are Democratic Majority Leader Harry from Nevada; Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell from Kentucky; Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, a Democrat from Vermont; and the committee's ranking Republican, Jeff Sessions from Alabama.
