WASHINGTON (CN) - President Barack Obama extended for one year provisions of Executive Order 13219 blocking any property under the jurisdiction of the United States belonging to persons engaged in or sponsoring extremist violence in the Western Balkans.
Violence continues between Macedonia's Slav and Albanian communities threatening to boil over into Bosnia and Kosovo more the twenty years after the break up of Yugoslavia.
The order has been extended every year since 2001 and its provisions have expanded to include support of acts obstructing the Dayton Peace Accords in Bosnia and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 in Kosovo.
