NYC Cavalcade of Corruption Continues

MANHATTAN (CN) - A lead and asbestos inspector on Tuesday was sentenced to 5 years in prison and ordered to pay $456,589 in fines and restitution for falsifying lead and asbestos inspections. Saverio Todaro, 68, of Richmond Hill, ran his own company called SAF Environmental Corp.

"By falsifying literally hundreds of asbestos and lead inspection reports, Saverio Todaro put the health and safety of New York City residents at risk to line his own pockets," U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement.

Todaro must report to prison on March 21, 2011.
