(CN) - A worker at the prison in Upstate New York from which two murderers escaped last month pleaded guilty to helping the men by smuggling them hacksaw blades in frozen hamburger meat.
Joyce Miller, a tailor shop instructor at the Clinton Correctional Facility, was arrested shortly after inmates Richard Matt and David Sweat staged their June 6 escape.
The pair alluded the authorities for nearly two weeks before Matt was shot and killed by police on June 26; Sweat was captured near the Canadian border two days later and sent to another prison.
Miller pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree promoting prison contraband, a felony, and misdemeanor fourth-degree criminal facilitation. She faced a sentence of between 2 1/2 and seven years in prison under the terms of a plea agreement with prosecutors.
The date of her sentencing has not been announced.
