Nutty Bar Promo Features|Booze, Fire & Charging Bull

PHOENIX (CN) - After plying her with booze, a restaurant had a woman stand in a ring of fire, where a charging bull knocked her down and hurt her, the woman claims in court.

Lillian Clark sued the Roadrunner Restaurant and Saloon, of New River, and its owner and operator, Starr Property Holdings and Mark Starr, in Maricopa County Court.

After quaffing "numerous sweet alcoholic drinks," Clark says, she learned "that there would be a competition that evening somehow involving bulls to win tickets to a Tim McGraw concert."

She claims she was "unable to obtain clear answers" about what the contest entailed, but did not believe it would involve live ones. So, "in an obviously intoxicated state, [she] agreed to take part in the competition," Clark says, "wholly unaware of what would occur when she entered the ring at Roadrunner Restaurant."

She says she was led to an outdoor ring, which had two circles drawn in the dirt, and directed to join the other participants in one of the two circles.

"The purported goal of the 'Ring of Fire' event was for the participants to stand within one of the two rings, somehow avoid being struck by an enormous, angry bull which repeatedly charged at them, while remaining within the ring. The last person left within a ring would win tickets to the Tim McGraw concert," Clark says.

"In reality, the true goal for the defendants ... was to provide entertainment to bar patrons at the substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury to unwitting, generally intoxicated participants in the event."

The bull knocked her down, Clark says, giving her "significant injuries."

Clark says the defendants should not have allowed her to participate, because "given the quantity of alcoholic beverages served to plaintiff, along with her demeanor, she was intoxicated and at significant risk of injury while participating in an already unreasonably dangerous and ultra-hazardous activity."

She seeks medical expenses and punitive damages for negligence.

She is represented in Maricopa County Court by K. Thomas Slack of Beale, Micheaels, Slack and Shughart.
