NRC Cites Wal-Mart

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has cited Wal-Mart for getting rid of exit signs without using proper precautions to keep "minor" amounts of radioactivity from leaking from the signs, which would require environmental clean up.

The exit signs contain tritium, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen. The fine was waived due to Wal-Mart's "prompt" and "comprehensive" actions to remedy the situation.
