SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Shirley Goddard, the chief executive officer of a charity intended to help developmentally disabled people, faces a complaint from New York's attorney general that says she stole almost a million dollars from the organization to fund her gambling habit.

Read the complaint.

Goddard led HOME, short for the Humanity Organization for Multicultural Experiences, until her termination in 2018. Her husband, Tyrone Goddard, was chairman of the board and is accused of covering up the embezzlement.
