No release for pedo mayor

MANHATTAN — The Second Circuit affirmed a Connecticut federal court’s denial of compassionate release for Philip Giordano, the former mayor of Waterbury, who was convicted for repeatedly sexually assaulting two underaged girls. He sought a reduced sentence due to his health, age and alleged rehabilitation, but the court correctly ruled these factors did not outweigh his use of his power as mayor “to make the continuing sexual abuse possible.”
