SAN FRANCISCO – A federal judge on Monday denied a bid by a splinter group of the Pinoleville Pomo Nation tribe to organize as a separate tribe, finding the Bureau of Indian Affairs was within its authority to find the group a subset of the Pinoleville Pomo rather than a tribe onto itself.
