No insurance benefits for self-defense shooter

NEW ORLEANS — A federal judge in Louisiana denied a widow’s request for a restraining order that would halt her late husband’s children’s lawsuit, which aims to block her from inheriting his insurance proceeds after she fatally shot him in their home in self-defense. She defended the state-court lawsuit for years and did not seek federal intervention until shortly before a state appellate court hearing.
