No incentives for class actions

TAMPA, Fla. — Pursuant to an 11th Circuit ruling, a federal court in Florida declined to issue a $1,000 service reward to the class representatives who settled their claims against an orthopedic clinic related to a data breach that was caused during a ransomware attack. A Supreme Court precedent prohibits such incentives for successfully filing lawsuits.
