Nine Years for Phony Invoice Scam

MANHATTAN (CN) - A man who conned hundreds of companies in a mass-mail phony invoice scam was sentenced Wednesday to 9 years in federal prison and ordered to pay $647,000 in restitution. Michael Schlussel, 56, ran the scam for a decade, sending bogus payment demands from his so-called collections company, Alden Curtis & Michaels.

The U.S. Attorney's Office announced the sentence.
