1.) Effectively sidelining the State of the Union address, Speaker Nancy Pelosi told President Donald Trump in a letter Wednesday that a measure allowing the president to speak will not be voted on by the House.

2.) New Orleans Saints season ticketholders filed a class action against the NFL, saying the blown pass-interference call that cost the Saints the NFC championship on Sunday cast doubt on the league’s “integrity and fairness.” And they say, three members of the officiating crew had previously been accused of “biased rulings on the field.

3.) Citing “ongoing threats against his family” from President Donald Trump, the prison-bound former fixer Michael Cohen backed out Wednesday on his appearance before Congress.

After the large rallies and marches in the rain over the last week, Los Angeles educators returned to their classrooms Wednesday – putting an end to a six-day teachers’ strike where more than 30,000 union members seized on a groundswell of support for public education at the nation’s second largest school district.

7.) A drug company specializing in the development of therapies for degenerative disorders said Wednesday its researchers have identified a bacterial pathogen responsible for the rapid growth of Alzheimer’s disease: Gingivitis, and they’ve created a treatment to neutralize its effect on the brain.
