DALLAS (CN) - Oakland Raiders defensive end Lamarr Houston hasn't repaid a $35,000 loan despite receiving more than $2 million in salary and bonuses, a lender claims in court.
NVNG Financial Group sued Lamarr Houston in Dallas County Court.
It claims it loaned Houston $35,000 in February 2010, two months before he was drafted by the Raiders as a rookie. Houston played at the University of Texas at Austin.
"Houston agreed to repay the loan within 15 days of receiving his NFL Draft signing bonus," the complaint states. "Although receiving a signing bonus and a four-year contract with the Oakland Raiders guaranteed over $2 million in compensation, Houston did not pay the loan off."
NVNG claims that Houston owes it $51,000 now, which includes attorneys' fees, costs and interest.
Houston was selected as the AFC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 24 after his fumble-causing tackle in overtime set up the Raiders' winning field goal, according to the Raiders' website.
NVNG seeks actual damages for breach of contract.
