NFL player’s killing

GRETNA, La. — Ronald Gasser, who shot and killed former NFL player Joe McKnight in a road rage incident, cannot be retried on a second degree murder charge, an appeals court in Louisiana ruled, due to double jeopardy. McKnight was tried and charged with murder, but a jury returned a manslaughter conviction, which was overturned after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimous verdicts are required to convict defendants of serious offenses.
