NFL Players Association Sues the League

MINNEAPOLIS (CN) - The NFL Players Association sued the NFL on behalf of five Minnesota Vikings who were punished for taking a diuretic containing bumetanide. The players association says the NFL doctor and attorney knew the players would be punished for taking "StarCaps" but did not tell them.

The suit says StarCaps does not list bumetanide as an ingredient. It also claims that the NFL arbitrator in the case "was directly involved in the wrongful NFL conduct at issue."

The five Vikings involved in the federal complaint are Kevin Williams, Pat Williams, Charles Grant, Deuce McAllister and Will Smith. The case involves the NFL policies on anabolic steroids. The NFLPA is represented by Dewey & LaBoeuf of New York, N.Y.
