A California appeals court agreed Friday that a class of San Diego Union Tribune newspaper carriers are employees and not independent contractors, and are therefore entitled to minimum and overtime wages, but found a $3.1 million restitution award must be reduced to reflect the paper’s reimbursement of work-related expenses.
