New NOX Standards Planned|for Aircraft Engines

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Environmental Protection Agency plans to require more stringent nitrogen oxide emissions standards for new turbojet or turbofan aircraft engines rated at greater 6,000 lbs of thrust, according to newly proposed rules.

Nitrogen oxides (NOX) are a principal part of aircraft exhaust emissions. They are a precursor to the formation of tropospheric ozone.
