QUEENS, N.Y. (CN) - A video company hired to film a banquet celebrating a man's graduation from medical school cut out the speech from the new doctor's father to make room for ads promoting itself, and scrolled its own ads under the film, ruining the video, the graduate claims in Queens County Court.
Stanley Ikezi says he hired TKO Baba Jojo Video to film the banquet held in his honor in June 2009. He claims Baba Jojo's owner, Olu Joseph aka Baba Jojo, left plenty of room in the video to insert "continuous" and "scrolling" advertisements for his businesses as a filmmaker and DJ, but edited out the entire speech of Ikezi's father.
The rest of the video, Ikezi says, had "unsightly borders," lacked full shots in most areas and generally suffered from "poor quality."
In addition, he says, Baba Jojo used a voicemail from plaintiff Jane Ikezi without permission to create a "false testimonial" promoting its services.
Jane Ikezi says she left the voicemail before she had received a copy of the tape.
Stanley Ikezi seeks damages for breach of contract, Jane Ikezi for misappropriation and defamation.
The Ikezis are represented by Gerard White.
