CARSON CITY, Nev. (CN) - O.J. Simpson and his co-defendant will get a chance to appeal their felony convictions stemming from a 2007 hotel room heist. The Nevada Supreme Court has scheduled oral arguments June 11 in Las Vegas, where a three-judge panel will hear separate appeals from attorneys for both Simpson and his co-defendant, Clarence "C.J." Stewart.
Simpson, 62, is serving nine to 33 years in state prison. Stewart, 56, got 7 ½ to 27 years.
The two were tried and convicted in 2008 of robbing a pair of sports memorabilia dealers at gunpoint in a Las Vegas hotel room. The entire episode was caught on audio tape.
Simpson has maintained that he went to the Palace Station to retrieve family heirlooms.
Both want the court to overturn their convictions on kidnapping and armed robbery.
Simpson claims his celebrity barred him from getting a fair trial, and that the jury was not racially diverse.
Stewart's attorney had argued since the start of the trial that the two should have been tried separately.
